Membership Benefits
Minnesota Water Garden Society members enjoy numerous benefits and have multiple opportunities to participate in educational activities designed to enhance the water gardening experience. The following topics explain briefly some of those opportunities and benefits.
Membership:
Our membership cost is $35 per household per year. The membership year is one year from your membership registration date.
Meetings:
Meetings are usually on the 2nd Sunday of each month from 2-4PM. There are no meetings in November or December. Meetings are held at various locations throughout the Twin Cities area. Check the newsletter, the Events Page, or call the hotline for meeting location date, time and topic.
Newsletter:
The newsletter (entitled "Waterlog") is published 12 times/year and is circulated approximately one week prior to the meeting. This is our member's newsletter and you are encouraged to submit questions, exchange information or submit articles or review products, books or services relating to any aspect of water gardening.
MN Landscape Arboretum:
Our society is associated with the MN Landscape Arboretum. As such, a $5 discount applies towards your Landscape Arboretum membership. Contact the Arboretum to obtain your discount. Please also note, that we send updated membership lists to the Arboretum once/month so there may be some delay from the time you join to the time the Arboretum has the information. If you experience difficulties, please contact our membership director.
Meeting Costs:
Non-members are allowed one free meeting to acquaint them with the organization. Membership allows you to attend all the monthly meetings without further fees.
Pond Tours:
The Minnesota Water Garden Tour, is held each year at the end of July. 15 to 20 water gardens are on display each year. Our theme is educational in nature, so ponds are selected to showcase a wide variety of styles, sizes and construction techniques. If you are interested in participating in this event in any way, or having your pond on the tour, this can be arranged.
Volunteers:
Our society is a non-profit organization and depends upon the efforts of its members to support itself and its activities. Numerous educational type activities take place throughout the year that require member volunteers to assist in promoting our mission of educating the public about water gardening. Hence, there are lots of opportunities for members to get involved at any level of commitment, skill or experience.
